Safety First And Always
Safety is a concern each and every day for us. It is the first consideration on each job site for our workers and the public. Cessford Construction Company constantly works to improve their incident record. One injury is too many in the quarry or on the job site. Through education and encouragement from peers our employees strive to have a safer place to work. Our employees hold themselves responsible for their own safety and that of others. Through a training program they are encouraged to eliminate accidents and injuries. Our safety record has received several achievement awards.
Hazard Prevention
Cessford Construction Company has set forth their own prevention procedures with issues such as the wearing of personal protection equipment (gloves, safety boots, ear protection, respirators and hard hats), checking for underground utilities and overhead power lines before work begins, assuring our tools are maintained and used in the correct manner, providing working backup alarms on equipment, making drivers aware of potential hazards in their delivery area, providing the correct lights when working during after dark hours, training of the proper postures while using tools and encouraging our workers to be well-rested and alert.
Teaching Safety
Old Castle Materials-Midwest Division provides safety instructions to the children who come to learn about our company. The children tour our facility and talk to our geologist to learn about how rocks are formed and we use part of that time to teach about the hazards and learn the accident prevention and the safety procedures we implement. They learn "I Am Responsible For Safety" throughout our program.
Safety Best Practices
The members of our Safety Best Practices Group relates their experiences and brainstorm to develop procedures to prevent accidents and injury for the entire company. Cessford Construction Company has become one of the industry's leaders by setting the standard for ourselves and other aggregate companies in safety matters. Cess Ford Construction Company received the ILPA Safety Excellence Award for No Lost-Time Accidents for 2001,2003,2005,2006,2007
